Amazing, sought-after couture vintage 1950s cocktail dress by Werlé Beverly Hills. In the mid 1950s, this label by Dan Werlé and business partner Jose Fernandez clothed some of Hollywood's leading ladies including Gloria Swanson, Barbara Stanwyck and Loretta Young (according to the Vintage Fashion Guild site, the entrances she made wearing Werlé’s fabulous gowns became her signature, and garnered him a national audience).
This stunning vintage hourglass dress features a pale skintone chiffon bust over strappy bodice, with cap sleeves and tie to the back of the neck.
Shaped under the bust to the front in black slubbed linen fabric, with large bow detail, central shaped panel with pleats emanating from it, and flattering pencil skirt with slit to the back hem.
Metal zip to the centre back. Boned bodice. Labelled Werlé inside at the waist seam.
