This very beautiful vintage cocktail or evening dress dates from the late 1940's, around the time of Dior's groundbreaking "New Look" collection, and is in gorgeous quality redwood toned thick silk-like fabric with a slight lustre.
Sleeveless gown with sweetheart neckline, fitted bust with pleats to the centre seam, and panelled waist with dropwaist skirt.
A belt detail runs around the back of the dress, finishing at the hips with a beautiful bronze and black glass button each side, and flat centre panel. The rest of the skirt is tightly gathered under the dropwaist seam, falling in a multitude of folds to the hem (a full circle of fabric, so beautiful for twirling in!).
Fastens at the side with a metal zip.
Looks stunning with a fur stole and some contrasting evening gloves for post-war glamour!
