Her winning photo now graces the Candy Says homepage, and Beth also won a £100 voucher for Candy Says and a retro photoshoot worth £200 from Retro Photostudio - we can't wait to see the results!
We found out a little bit more about Beth:
What is your day job?
I am a student at University of the Arts in London studying Costume Design- but at the moment I’m taking a time out from my studies to put together an illustration portfolio- hopefully I will be opening up a little Etsy shop of my work sometime soon!
What is your favourite era for vintage clothing and why?
As a student of Costume Design I love all periods of historical fashion, but the late 1960s to the early 1970s is my absolute favourite. This period was fantastic, as designers were taking inspiration from historical and worldwide sources for their pieces. Fashion Icons of the time were wearing stylish new clothes straight off the peg from Carnaby Street boutiques and mixing and matching them with antique pieces from flea markets. The more outrageous the outfit the better! This is great for me, as it means I get to express my love for antique pieces, historical fashion and my favourite 1960s & 70’s vibe all at the same time!
What first got you interested in vintage clothing?
I was lucky enough to grow up with access to all of my mum’s old clothes from the 70s, and that was enough to get me hooked! As well as that I’m a big fan of cinema and music from the time, which has definitely given me a lot of outfit inspiration! I’m also fascinated by the story behind each piece. Someone could have met their future husband or been to see their favourite band live in the garment, and you’ll never know! Sometimes I like to give my pieces little past lives, which is a little bit nerdy but I love to think about who that piece could have belonged too, where they went and what they did in it!
Do you have a favourite vintage piece in your wardrobe, and a favourite vintage label?
One of my true loves when it comes to Vintage is Barbara Hulanicki’s Biba. Due to this I think my favourite vintage piece would have to be my early '70s Biba dress. It’s one of those amazing instances where you know the complete history of the garment- which I love! It was bought by a very wealthy aristocratic lady for her wedding trousseau but she never wore it- and it sat in her wardrobe until I bought it year ago. I’ve bumped into quite a few ladies who have told me that they owned the same dress, which is always lovely! I also have an amazing Young Edwardian suit in a real dandy style- it always makes me think of the song “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” by The Kinks when I wear it! I’m a big fan of Gunne Sax as well, a black label dress from them is my holy grail at the moment!
Who is your vintage icon?
I have far too many! Cher, Twiggy, Pattie and Jenny Boyd, Mia Farrow, Grace Slick, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Stevie Nicks are all among my favourites!

Ideally we'd like you to sport one of your Candy Says purchases for the photo - but this is not essential (though your outfit will need to be predominantly vintage clothing as that's what we sell!).
This is not a beauty contest - we'll purely be judging on who has the most interesting photo so don't be shy!

]]>But after a fierce campaign, a lot of hard work and very possibly a little bit of magic, Dreamland has risen from the ashes (quite literally, as the park's majestic centre-piece, the Scenic Railway, was badly damaged in an arson attack in 2008 threatening any hopes of a resurrection).
We've been keeping our eye on the progress of the Save Dreamland campaign for some years now, so when the announcement was made that it was to open again as the 'world's first heritage amusement park', we nearly fell off our perch with excitement. Two of our favourite things combined - vintage nostalgia and roller coasters! Add to the mix the awesome Hemingway design team and you are sure to have a recipe for success.
A couple of months ago I got up at 5am and drove to Margate to stand in the queue for opening day tickets (and I am NOT a morning person), so we could be amongst the first people to set foot in the new refurbished fun park which opened its doors on Friday 19th June 2015.
After the long wait, we were not disappointed. Although the park is only in phase 1 of its development, there are already plenty of nostalgic fun and frolics to be had. After a warm welcome from the enthusiastic staff at the entrance, we were let in to run amok against a candy-striped backdrop of retro madness!
Inside the main space, vintage arcade games and pinball machines buzz and ping on a glittering floor inset with shiny pennies, whilst the roller room blasts out retro sounds for a non-stop party on wheels. The soon-to-open Octopus's Garden will provide an indoor play area for the kids, and there are various places to grab a bite to eat inside if the weather is unkind.
The Dreamland Emporium is full of charming Hemingway-designed goodies (see the end of this post for a chance to win a Dreamland goodie bag!) and is also stocked with a good selection of items by local artists.
Outside in the park, you can relive your childhood on the beautifully restored rides; have a romantic jaunt on the Gallopers, take a swing on the Chair-O-Plane, whizz round the Helter-Skelter or admire the golden Margate sands from the top of the Big Wheel.
The Scenic Railway (officially the UK's oldest roller coaster) was not yet ready to re-open on our visit, but as you enter the park under its impressive wooden structure you cannot deny its grand and imposing presence - listen hard and you can almost hear the squeals of excitement of 1920s day-trippers. I can't wait to go back and find out how a coaster of almost 100 years of age compares with modern day thrill-rides. From what I've heard, this ride can be a pretty hair-raising experience, requiring a brakeman to travel with the train to control its speed ... eeek!
One of our favourite rides was the classic Dodgems - these restored vintage cars can really GO, and for a speed queen like me it was impossible not to ride pedal-to-the-metal for the whole session - joy!
There's plenty for the little 'uns too, with the pretty Wedgewood Tea Cup ride and the adorable vintage Dreamland cars proving popular.
Amongst all the merriment it would be easy to miss the rather sombre presence of the remains of the original Sanger menagerie cages - themselves grade II listed like the Scenic Railway. It is pretty shocking to think that they once housed exotic animals in the 1870s as part of the Hall-by-the-Sea's Zoological Gardens, but they form an important part of the park's history. You can just make them out at the back right of the picture below.
Future developments include plans for a nightclub, ballroom, education space and the re-opening of the Dreamland art deco cinema complex - all helping to secure Dreamland as the sparkly vintage jewel in Margate's splendid crown!
You can find out more about Dreamland by visiting their website here.

First up is this very beautiful vintage 1940s ivory satin wedding dress, which was worn on the same day as Queen Elizabeth II's marriage to Prince Philip (20th November 1947).
We are lucky enough to have seen a photo of the original owner wearing the dress too which makes it extra special.
It is in luxurious ivory liquid satin fabric, with elegant structured padded shoulders typical of the forties and a beautiful curved panel with gathered seams to the sides and base.
It comes with its original wire framed headress of cream mesh and little waxed buds. The auction is due to end on Wednesday 18th February 2015 at 17.58pm, so if you are looking for a wedding gown from a bygone era of romance and glamour, take a look!
Next up is this rare and truly fabulous vintage 1970s printed cotton dress by sought-after label Miss Mouse.
Featuring an oh-so-fantastic Martini label print, the dress dates from the earliest Miss Mouse collections by Rae Spencer Cullen, with the label reading 'from Rae with love & kisses x x x Miss Mouse'..
This Martini recipe adds a dash of 1950s style and a healthy dose of pop-art kitsch!
The auction ends at 19.17pm on Wednesday 18th February 2015.
Last up we have another rare collector's piece, a vintage 1960s claret tricel dress with shirred midriff from the Queen of the Mods Cathy McGowan!
This fab mod frock from Ready, Steady, Go! presenter Cathy McGowan's Boutique is simple and chic, with drawstring scoop neckline and flattering fitted design.
The auction ends on Thursday 19th February 2015 at 18.15pm.
