A wonderfully quirky little piece of 1940s costume jewellery, this novelty purse brooch is in a rich cobalt blue plastic with brass-tone fittings, designed as a tiny handbag complete with a lucky four-leaf clover detail, dangling chain handle and small brass tube which functioned as a bank note holder! The top plaque reads “GRISBI?” - a playful nod to mid-century French slang associated with money and treasures (loot, or dough!).
The purse itself opens with a satisfying snap fastening, revealing a petite hidden compartment inside.
An unusual and collectable accessory for lovers of novelty jewellery, 1940s plastics and playful mid-century design. Pin fastening to the reverse of the plaque.
- measures just under 1.5" across x 2 1/4" long
